The Process of Therapy
1. Schedule a Free Consultation
Begin your therapeutic journey with a free 15-minute consultation, either by phone or video chat.
In this call, we will discuss your goals and desires for beginning treatment, and you’ll have the chance to learn about my therapeutic approach.
It’s the perfect time to address any questions or concerns you may have, ensuring you feel fully comfortable and informed before making a commitment to treatment.
2. Initial Session
Our first meeting is dedicated to understanding the specific issues that led you to seek therapy.
Through a structured series of questions, we'll discuss your current context, mental health history, developmental/trauma history and any additional factors impacting mood and overall wellbeing.
This intake session will look pretty different from the rest of our work, but will help us create a foundation for what treatment looks like moving forward.
3. Ongoing Sessions
After the initial session, we work collaboratively to decide what the rest of our work looks likes depending on your unique needs and goals.
Sessions can take on many different forms. The space is meant to hold and honor the vastness of your emotional experience, so some sessions will feel lighter and others sometimes heavier. We will talk about the present, past, and future, weaving together connections, patterns and themes to help develop new insight and work towards healing and meaningful change.
Throughout the course of our work, I will regularly check-in to see how we are doing and if any adjustments need to be made to the structure of our sessions.
